During his lifetime, Oswald Chambers spoke of “the power of knowing.” It’s funny what things we as humans want to know, what things we take for granted and what we don’t attempt to discover. The power of knowing that God loves us and wants what is best for us is part of the most powerful “knowing” we can achieve.
This year, yours truly will be focusing on the human heart rather than the human intellect. Seeking Divine answers to how to end abortion for example – if the hearts of fathers and mothers are changed, won’t an end to abortion follow?
Every day, I try really hard to seek the “heart of God,” to discover as much as is possible for me to comprehend, God’s thoughts, God’s ways. The best place for this “seeking” of course is the Bible. The next layer of resource comes from personal meditation and reading meditation books by others. Father Frank’s Pro-Life Reflections for Every Day is part of my “spiritual diet.” I read MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST and more recently the HEAVEN CALLING devotionals. Also, books by my friend Anthony DeStefano on subjects like Heaven and Prayer are insightful.
Of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my own book titles. By the way, look for a new book this year!
I’m reading the Book of Genesis this month, and understanding that all of the problems we are facing today – abortion, homosexual lifestyles, violence, avarice, sickness and everything else under the sun – all came after Satan’s dark interception with our forbearers, Adam and Eve, in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve tried to hide from God after the tricks from Satan took hold of their souls. Sickness and sin came to us by Adam’s fall. Life and forgiveness came to us by the Second Adam, Jesus. Glory to God!
God is Love. Love calls to us from the Light of Heaven. Love calls through the darkness, into the light! Love brings everything out in the open. Love makes provision for us and for the generations to come so that we will never have to hide from God again. So I say OUT OF THE CLOSET – OUT IN THE OPEN – with everything! Then, let’s be open to Jesus so that abortion can end, so that God’s purpose for natural Life, Marriage and Family will shine through!
